Situation
Severe heavy duty operation conditions limited the hydraulic oil drain interval and filter life to 700 hrs in a rock breaker application resulting in lower productivity and high maintenance cost.
Recommendation
Mobil Field Engineering Services (FES) team conducted application assessment study and recommended to use Mobil DTE™ 26 Ultra (ISO VG 68) hydraulic oil to prevent rapid oil oxidation and deposit formation and also to monitor the oil and equipment performance regularly with Mobil Serv℠ Lubricant Analysis (MSLA).
- Extended oil drain interval by 3x
- Reduced oil consumption – 800 litres

Impact
The recommendations resulted in:
- ODI and filter life increase from 700 hrs to 2100 hrs.
- Oil consumption reduction by 800 ltrs annually per equipment.
- Man hours for maintenance reduction by 57 hours.
