Mobil SHC™ Elite: We have been using a conventional mineral-based gear oil of ISO VG 150 for a long time in one of our LK 64 Comber Gearboxes. One of the drawbacks for us on this was a very short oil drain interval of 1100 hours. Mobil's field engineer inspected the gearbox and recommended use of synthetic gear oil Mobil SHC™ 629.
Tata Steel Ltd., Jamshedpur
At the Tata Steel plant in Jamshedpur, we noticed that due to water spray off, there was a very high grease consumption of 8 drums per month and a high bearing failure rate of 10 per year, leading to production downtime. ExxonMobil lubrication engineers recommended the use of Mobilgrease XHPTM. After usage of the grease, they witnessed reduction in grease consumption by 38% and bearing failure by 70%.
Mukand Limited, Mumbai
The roughing mill stand gear box at Mukand Steel was facing issues. The frequent reverse type rotation of the gear box was creating excessive churning of the gear oil leading to foaming and loss of lubricant. Mobil’s team studied the application, conducted a gear box inspection and recommended Mobil Gear™ 600 XP 320, an anti-micro-pitting gear oil to increase the reliability of the gearbox.
Bhushan Power & Steel Ltd., Orissa
At the mould oscillation system, a high cycle time of 350 cycles per minute and extreme operational condition of CSP caster led to the failure of servo valves, causing loss in productivity and profitability. ExxonMobil lubrication engineers recommended Mobil DTE 10 Excel 46 hydraulic oil and Mobil Serv Lubricant Analysis program to monitor and evaluate the performance of the product.
