Mobil SHC™ Pegasus synthetic oil helps extend natural gas engine oil life more than five times the OEM recommendation | Mobil™
Caterpillar G3516 gas engine
Enogex
Weatherford, Oklahoma, United States
Situation
Enogex, a division of Oklahoma Gas & Electric (OGE) and one of the largest intrastate natural gas pipeline and midstream service providers in the United States, operates an 8,200-mile pipeline system with eight processing plants and 24 billion cubic feet of storage capacity. At its facility near Weatherford, Oklahoma, Enogex operates two Caterpillar G3516 field gathering booster gas engines with OEM-recommended oil drain intervals of 3,000 hours. In an effort to maximize equipment performance, the company approached ExxonMobil to identify a method of increasing its oil drain intervals.
Recommendation
ExxonMobil’s lubrication expert recommended switching to Mobil SHC™ Pegasus synthetic natural gas engine oil, which is formulated to deliver exceptional cleanliness and long-lasting protection for natural gas engine components.
Result
After transitioning to Mobil SHC™ Pegasus synthetic natural gas engine oil, Enogex was able to extend its oil drain intervals to more than 16,000 hours, which was five times greater than the OEM-recommendtion. An engine inspection conducted after the 16,000-hour mark revealed that Mobil SHC™ Pegasus synthetic natural gas engine oil also kept the engine’s components exceptionally clean. The switch to Mobil SHC™ Pegasus engine oil also resulted in longer run time and reduced lubrication maintenance.
