Heavy rain? No problem! Tricks to improve vision

The hot season has arrived in a flash. During this season, we all look forward to a heavy downpour but many drivers may not share the same sentiments.

After all, rain means:
"Cannot see ..."
"Obscured vision"
"Traffic jams..."
"Irritating ..."
"Bang"

Oh, please do not be irritated. Stay calm. If not, just listen to Dr. Mobil's tips on improving vision on rainy days. You can help yourself in heavy rain.

You need to know when and how to use the lights

Turn on the lights when it is dark. Sounds simple enough but not many car owners can do this correctly.
First of all, turn on the lights early! When is early? It is the moment the sky turns dark, i.e. at dusk, while entering tunnels or under the viaduct, and on cloudy and rainy days. This is because lights are not only meant to illuminate the surrounding area. More importantly, they are meant to allow pedestrians and other drivers to see you.
Secondly, use fog lights in the rain. Fog lights have a high intensity, low exposure and large illumination angles. They can light up a large area in rainy and foggy weather. Make full use of them in bad weather.

Thirdly, do not use high beams. Under normal weather conditions, when front vision is limited, most drivers will turn on high beams automatically. However, this is not suitable for fog as high beams have a high illumination angle and the light is concentrated. When used in a fog, high beams create a blinding glare for an oncoming vehicle and impede the sighting of hidden dangers on the road!

Easy De-mist

On rainy days with high humidity, mist often forms on the interior of the windshield. Fortunately, it is easy to de-mist. Modern cars are equipped with effective de-mist functions. You just need to identify the de-mist sign and turn it on in times of need.

In general, front and rear windshield de-misting have corresponding buttons and you just need to switch them on when needed. For cars equipped with manual air conditioning, you should turn it on when de-misting. Rear window de-misting relies on resistance heating and involves high power consumption. For most cars, it will be automatically switched off after being turned on for a certain period of time. You can turn it on again if needed.

Is the windshield wiped clean?

This seems to be a very basic issue but it cannot be ignored. As air pollution is undeniably more serious now, when air quality is poor in the northern area, a lot of PM2.5 pollution comes from the oil particles of combustion. These oil particles, together with summertime rubber and vehicle emissions on congested roads make the windshield dirty.

It is necessary to use a special detergent regularly on both the interior and exterior of the windshield. Otherwise, the oily layer on the glass that is ignored in normal conditions will further obstruct your vision on rainy and foggy days, increasing safety risks.

All in all, Dr. Mobil's advice is to turn on the lights, de-mist and clean the windshield. These three actions will eliminate the vision problem for you. You deserve to have full vision!
